Inside the Artist's Studio - a special opportunity to learn the life of a famed local artist from his own words. All in a Day's Work is a retrospective of Karl J. Kuerner's work. This is an exciting opportunity for you to meet the famous local artist of the Brandywine tradition taking place in the Philips Autographed Library at WCU at 7:00 pm on Friday, December, 14, 2007. This is a free event to support the Friends of the Library at West Chester University. Please plan to attend.
Noted artist Karl J. Kuerner will sign copies of a new book dedicated to his work, All in a Day’s Work … from Heritage to Artist: The Art of Karl J. Kuerner,
Karl J. Kuerner was tutored by Carolyn Wyeth and mentored by Andrew Wyeth. He still lives at the farm of father and grandfather in Chadds Ford. A farm featured in many of his paintings, as well as in many of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings. Mr. Kuerner’s has brought him the acclaim of peers and recognition through one-man shows and other local and statewide exhibitions. In addition to autographing his book, Mr. Kuerner will also have signed copies of his prints.
The event will highlight some new acquisitions of the West Chester University Libraries appropriate to the holiday season. Among these will be a new addition to the Perrone Night Before Christmas Collection, an illustrated edition of The Night Before Christmas, one of 275 copies autographed by the famous English illustrator Arthur Rackham, and Santa Claus’s draft card.
