Retiring from the legislature representing the 156th district in 2006, Elinor Zimmerman Taylor (April 18, 1921 – July 27, 2010) served in the House Republican leadership as Majority Caucus Chair. Graduating from West Chester High School in 1939, she later attended West Chester University receiving a doctorate in public service en honoris cause. She attended classes at Columbia University and the University of Delaware, obtaining a Master's in Education from Temple University.
WCU students in the nursing program benefitted, in large part, spearheaded by Hon. Taylor through funding from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation. Elinor Taylor also provided awards, letters, papers, photos and plaques as a lasting memory for her dedication to education and funding for the Elinor Z. Taylor Graduate Study Lounge on the 6th floor of the FH Green Library. Room 608 access to the Graduate Study Lounge is available through the Graduate Student Association.
