WCU's Special Collections staff would like to take a moment today to say "Thank You!" to all WCU veterans past and present, as well as all of the service men and women across the world. For those of you still serving stay safe and get home safely; to those who have served we thank you wholeheartedly; and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice we remember you.
WCU has a rich Veteran presence past and present. Below are a few resources from our collections:
Check out all of our Yearbooks online, which provide a glimpse into student life throughout WCU's history. The Yearbooks are a great resource for discovering the rich WCU history of service in all military branches in World Wars I & II, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Afghanistan to name just a few.
Much like our Yearbooks the Student Newspapers cover a wide range of WCU Student's and Faculty's service to our country. Check out the Student Newspaper online collection for information on WCU Veterans then and now.
Special Collections also houses histories of the University including, Honor Roll of World War II: Students of West Chester Teachers College a book honoring WCU WWII veterans.
WCU Library Services also features an exhibitduring the month of November. The exhibit is on the 2nd floor of Francis Harvey Green Library with materials from the library's collections. The exhibit is right inside the front door and includes items that can be checked out. Also check out this online research guide for all things Veteran! For more information on WCU's Veterans please contact our Special Collections Staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or check out our Special Collections Guide.
Once again Happy Veteran's Day!
